![]() The Bigsby B6GP vibrato tailpiece and Adjusto-Matic™ bridge combine with the Graph Tech® TUSQ® XL nut for maximum tuning stability. Our “Squeezebox” paper-in-oil capacitor adds smooth vintage tone while the all-new treble bleed circuit lets your guitar retain all of its tasty clarity when rolling the volume control down.Ī 12”-radius ebony fingerboard with rolled edges and 22 medium jumbo frets top a 25.5”-scale maple neck with a comfortably familiar standard “U”-shaped profile for fluidly easy playing, while Luminlay® side dots offer precision fretting in low-light settings. The control complement - separate bridge and neck volume controls, three-way pickup toggle switching, no-load master tone and master volume - allows for infinite tonal variations. The innovative Gretsch “ML” bracing delivers huge hollow body sound from the comfortable 2.5”-deep maple body. This powerful pair of pickups provide open and pristine top-end chime, glassy midrange, robust low end and balanced harmonics for tone that blends seamlessly with other instruments. The all-new FT-67 Filter’Tron™ humbucking pickups were designed to capture authentic vintage Gretsch voicing but with a more well-rounded tone for modern playing styles. When you sling a Falcon over your shoulder and plug in, you’re announcing to the world you’re serious about your playing and plan to leave a mark. From the classic standout aesthetics to the deep, complex sound, this top-notch performer is ideal for elevating your musical game and making a statement. The guitar seems great and I can't wait to play it on a gig.The GRETSCH G6136TG Players Edition Falcon Hollow Body with String-Thru Bigsby and Gold Hardware (2401543805) electric guitar is one of the most desired guitars in history. Maybe Gretsch/Fender could simply tell them to do better. In general, I find the hardware on the TKL cases to be not great. The guitar is VERY tight and requires some effort to get into the case, the position of the lid with the guitar in it does not allow the main latch to close properly one has to push the case and lid in opposite directions in order to get the latch to line up. I would say that Gretsch/Fender should be willing to supply slightly higher quality cases for these top-of-theline guitars. After one session with some emery paper it is much improved, but still needs a little more material removed from the nut grooves hardly a criticism of the instrument. This is probably the most versatile guitar I own.Ĭriticisms: It could be that this guitar was initially set up for narrower gauge strings, but there was quite a bit of binding in the nut with this 11-49 set. The treble bleed circuit is a treat and passes the job of shaping the tone over to the tone pot and or combining the two pickups. I like it better than the standard tone pot on my 6120DS for example. The electronics really do what they are designed for and the single "no-load" tone pot is totally functional. What really impressed me and what I wasn't expecting is the tonal range that this guitar displays. While I can't compare it to a "full-bodied" Falcon (this one is 2 1/4" deep) it still sounds like a Falcon. The guitar is the first Filter'tron equipped one that I've played for quite a while and it certainly has that growl. String gauges for me are 11-49 and the difference in tension compared to my 6118 was minimal. We rehearsed for over 2 hours and there was no discomfort at all. The Falcon is of course longer, one inch wider and has ML bracing, so a bit of added weight was expected. The first impression was a slight increase in weight over my 61, but not much, and the 6120DS is a fairly beefy guitar with the heavy Bigsby and T-Armonds anyway. Pedals used were Barber LTD, a Spring Chicken reverb. I ws playing through a 1966 Fender Tremolux that has been moved into an open back, 2 X 10" cabinet, with Weber speakers one alnico and one ceramic. ![]() ![]() Next Sunday's gig will perhaps be a better indicator, but here goes. Here is a review of the new Falcon (Player's Edition) based on my impressions at yesterday's rehearsal. ![]() I posted this review on the other Gretsch forum but not everyone goes over there, so here it is.
